I have recently
re-discovered the peace that comes from sitting on my front porch.
After a cold winter - and
I chill easily these days - and a very rain-soaked spring, the weather is great today and I am writing from the tranquility
of my front porch. The birds are singing as I watch the sun go slowly down in the west behind Peaks Knob Mountain.
While this peace flows over
me like a comfortable blanket, I can hear the rumble of distant thunder. I can see the billowing white tops of clouds just
through the mountain gap that foretell a rain... and maybe even a thunderstorm.
This reminds me to stay watchful.
St. Paul's admonition stirs in my memory. "Be watchful in all things." He was saying that in every circumstance of life to
be mindful that God is at work all around and we should pay attention to see His handiwork.
So, here I sit, listening...
and watching.
